Buying the DCT Africa Twin by A. Marcer

We will be featuring articles written by Andy Marcer of Metric Motorcycles of Houston, this is the first of many more to come. Enjoy! GETTING AN AFRICA TWIN Finally the summer is here. Normally I would be sulking and angry. Not this year. This year I’ve retired and I’m away from that miserable heat in Texas. I am at home in S.W Colorado. For years I made a living in the motorcycle business, repairing, selling etc.  Now finally it was my chance to actually just ride them. Of course I have my BMW RT1200, a new generation BMW, away from that huge clutch and flywheel spinning around that makes me feel like I’m on one of those kids gyro, throw up rides at the carnival. To me, the very best in motorcycling.  Period. And I have Yuliya’s MV Augusta. The worst in motorcycling.  Period.  But before I left the adventure bike bug had bitten me. Well to be honest, I’d just given up on riding on the track. MSR Houston is a plain shit track. Yes it’s shit and da...

Lost between red-tape and a jail cell with a slim chance of success.

I wrote this a couple of weeks ago and before you think I'm off on a rant the truth is when you look at it from some ways off its rather funny, but it might also offer a few handy tips for anyone needing to re-register a vehicle. This week has been a really crazy one, full of having to achieve, but very little actually getting done except for a huge amount of learning. It is a fact of life that if you build bikes whether it's as a profession or as a pass time, you are going to have to deal with the government, be it the licensing or traffic department or police for that matter. This week I had the dubious pleasure to have to deal with all the above mentioned. On Monday morning bright and breezy I was on the road to pick up the bike trailer and from there to load 3 bikes. On the way I stopped and collected Nicci and Little Laika and off we went. One bike had to go to a friend who is reworking the frame, simple enough, and that went off without a hitch.  The next stop Stic...

Ageist condescending twats

Today you get a rant, no, it's been a while but it's time for to get something off my chest. I am sick an tired of posts on my feeds of older tattooed people that have lines saying "How cool is Grandad"  or "How awesome is this tattooed sixty year old woman" Well go fuck yourself, older people don't need you to tell them they are awesome, they see it in the mirror everyday and have done so a lot longer  than you, your reaffirmation says more about your lack of gumption than it does about them. While I'm at it we were cool before you were conceived, the only reason you think anything is cool, is cause we taught you what cool is. As for being tattooed, we got tattooed way before it was cool and before the discovery channel and those twats made you think it was a good idea. So give us a break you ageist condescending twat, and show a little respect for your elders. I feel love though...

Great Champions!!!!

Jorge is a twat, no if's, and's or buts the guys a arrogant prick. Great champions are talented and charismatic, Rossi, Marques are Lorenzo will be easily forgotten, the events of qualifying Misano yesterday just prove my point. There is no guarantee that Rossi will win his his 10th world championship, but if he does he will most certainly be the most popular with fans and other riders. I love Valentino, I'm Italian, why would I not, but it goes beyond that, it goes to the charm and character of the man, and only time will tell if anyone will ever come close.
