Just a little group riding info.

1. Hold a meeting before you ride It helps to get together with all your riders beforehand to talk strategy (where you'll stop, how long you'll ride, where to go if you get lost, etc.) and ask questions. Trust us, it'll be easier to sort out concerns in a quiet room than over the crackle of the throttle. 2. Decide a riding order First choose a lead rider (the one in front) and a sweep rider (the one in back). The lead rider is in charge of telling the group what's coming, be it a traffic jam, rainstorm, or stampeding horse. And the sweep rider sets the pace for the group. Everyone else should have a place in the formation, too. The least experienced of your bunch should be behind the leader, letting the pros line up behind them and lend a watchful eye. You might be wondering, "How many riders should be in my group?" It depends on the situation. In the NHTSA study, though, several riders said they felt best in groups of 10 or fewer. 3. Come...

WHY I LIKE GUY

A while ago I watched a program on the TV about the WWII a British veteran spoke about the Blitz on London and how devastating it was and what people suffered through a how the British spirit kept them going through. Veteran RAF pilot now long gone spoke of how at 18 years old they fought the Hun in the skies above and so many died. I was reminded of another great hero of mine, Sir Earnest Shackleton and his voyage to Antartica with his “Imperial Trans-Antarctic Expedition” (1914-17) He and his team would be the first to traverse the continent from Vahsel Bay to McMurdo Sound on the opposite side, on the 19th of January 1915 their ship got trapped, frozen in an ice floe. Being forced to wait till spring the crew turned the ship into a winter station but in spring as the ice melted, the pressures of the moving ice finally sank the Endurance, forcing the men onto an ice floe, but to cut a long story short, they would march to Elephant Island dragging 3 life boats over the ice until they...

#supportyourhommies

A while ago I met a young couple, and being a prickly motherfucker it took a little time to get to know them, but having done so we have become good friends. http://wolfmotomotorcycles.com/about-us/ I have another friend, and all around good guy, perhaps at times too much of a good guy, but when someone is so inherently genuine, it really is not hard to be close to them. https://woodstockmoto.co Both these young guys run small businesses and both work and plug at them all day long, nothing you wouldn’t expect from any business owner I agree, but both them and myself have the same issues, and that is breaking through. So next time you spend your money, give a little thought as to just where that money is going, support your local businesses. The more you put into those businesses the more successful they become the more they are able to offer you. So before you head of to make your next purchase look around you and see if there is a local alternative,...

I'm tired

I am tired. I am tired of the very same people who bitch about crime in their neibourhood and the lack of the rule of law, but then drive through a red traffic light. Try obeying it yourself. I'm tired of people not listening, in this age of self promotion, it's all about you, but if you don't listen why the hell should anyone bother with listening to you. I'm tired of the "entitled" mentality I see, you are a useless waste and drain on all our resources go do something constructive with your hands instead of expecting other to give you shit. I'm tired of people knowing better than the professional, why is it that you think you know more than anyone else. You don't tell your dentist how to treat your teeth, yet you think you know better than your tattoo artist. I'm tired of cool thieves, if you can't come up with your own cool stuff, sink back into your own shit, stop trying to make what others have worked hard at creating your own. I...

Idle minds are the devils ballbag!

I'm so fucking bored, I am tired and bored, so damn bored, I can't stand to be near myself with this boredom. A young girl in a rugby jersey shouts at a tv in a restaurant, the incessant natter of two men talking about absolutely nothing but talking loud enough so we all hear their unimportant importance. A blog berating men for using safety razors over multi-blade, stupid pictures over overpriced possessions, holy shit... boredom in hyperbole, sometimes life is just monotonous and boring as hell... Or is it? Perhaps I need to get off my ass and start doing something getting creative draw, write, craft, something, so with that I am, but I am telling you I am watching, you boring little fuckers that come slipping into my life like elves on luges, I'm putting you on notice. One of my favorite sayings is, "Idle hands are the devils workshop" and in all things I find this to be true for me, I need stimulation and gratification, I need to work, create move thing...

Left hand, right hand splat.

I know my posts are sporadic and I always apologise about it,  but hell  I been distracted and I don't want to bore you with shit. Something has come up though and I want to say something about it. I have been a very keen motorcyclist most of my life, pretty much since I was 16 I have never not owned a motorcycle, I love them, and explaining really doesn't do it justice. I have raced super singles with my brothers and had fun in the dirt, sure we did some silly shit but we were never stupid and on the road you're expecting everyone else to be a stupid shit, and that brings me to my point. It is abundantly clear that you are vulnerable on a motorcycle, so to now pass vehicles on the left, is just so incredibly stupid that I am almost at a loss. You have to be a complete fuck tard to do that, and now that cycle lanes exist it certainly doesn't give you any protection let alone right to use it. All that's needed is someone to turn left or decide to park and you are fu...

Your Gang, my clique, your set...

I have been alarmed, bemused and a little caught a little off guard by the actions of some friends, I won't mention who, but it seems that a need to belong has taken up residence in their psyche, and though I know it's common, I don't get it. As a tattooer, I have spent a lot of my time convincing people to do things that are tailor made for them, individual, something unique, as unique as they themselves are. I do need to now say that just because you chose not to do so does not lessen you or your experience, I just felt that when the time came for something as exciting as getting tattooed, you might want to consider something all your own, something that spoke of your individuality as a person. This in time unfortunately, early on in my career been misinterpreted as me being exclusive and given rise to rumor that I'm a self entitled ass, and in now what is a very competitive industry, I can see how this is easily believed by those that have chosen not to do justice ...

The Anonymity

Let me say that for the most part I love social media, and though it's fashionable to keep telling everyone how idiotic they are being on it, or wasting their energies, I for the most part love it. Social media is like a cellular phone, love it or hate, everyone has one and everyone subscribes in one way or another. What I can't stand though is the thoughtlessness that pervades, It seems that from behind a computer some people feel it's ok to burden everyone else with their inability to shut up. The worst is the insensitive abuse hurled at others while sitting behind the relative anonymity of a computer screen, these very people would never spew their venom face to face, but from behind that screen... You are not anonymous, we all see you and we all see through you. I always say the "opinions are like assholes, everyone has one" and this is mine, thoughtful I hope, thought provoking I wish, but probably just more shit from the asshole.

Golden Brown

"Golden Brown" The BMW R100rs complete and strutting her stuff. Thanks go to the photographer Devin Paisley for doing this first shoot. Beautiful and elegant by day but a prowling tiger at night. What an addiction

Remember remember the 5th of November.

It's been a while, I know, formulating these things in my mind sometimes takes longer than I would like. I have a really bad memory, I have always had a sketchy one, but after a bike accident in 2006 it really isn't good at all, lets say it's selective, but I don't get to choose what sticks and what doesn't. I've been told that it's laziness and I should try harder, but I really try, I have tried making notes, then I can't remember where I put them, I started writing them down in a note book, when I can actually find the note book I can't remember what the notes were for. I have tried taking photos of how I built or stripped something and a couple of days later.... the photos mean nothing and I can't make head or tail of what I was doing..... Ok, I don't want to alarm you, a lot of stuff sticks and I function and do things just fine, but things would be so me easier if I could remember. I am now going to get to why I wrote this blog, I have...

A man should be sufficient for himself.

Tell me, just tell what seems to be the point? Why do people that are freaking assholes, who are users and takers always seem to get ahead, and those that take the time to help and support never do?  Is the climbing over the next persons corpse really the only way of getting ahead? Does pushing in-front of a good friend to get something before them make you great, or better or happier? A man should be sufficient for himself, and when that falls out of balance we end up like this, when we are constantly told by all and everyone around us that you are not enough, will never be enough, never have enough, we will always want and need for more and never ever be sufficient for oneself. Perhaps it's time to believe you are where you should be, and that the time wasted chasing what other deem to be enough is time wasted. That useless pursuit, isn't what makes you whole but the belief that you are who you are meant to be, and that fucking others over empties you and by doing so y...

How To:

It seems speaking to a lot of people about Crowd Funding, that I am finding that a good 90% don't really get how it works, so here is my best attempt at explaining and once done hoping that you will contribute to our project, so here goes. The concept is simple at it's very kernel, someone wants to do, build, develop or create something, they need funds, so they ask everyone they can to please contribute financially to help achieve the goal. Sounds a lot like begging, I know, but sometimes doing something needs a vision beyond the usual avenues and institutions and in this, needs supportive people of that vision to get behind it and make it come to fruition. Ok so lets get into some details, these Crowd Funds are hosted by several sites, Kickstarter, Thundafund and the one we are using Indiegogo, to name a few, each has certain criteria and I am not going to get into each one as they differ slightly from one another. generally they set up and host your campaign, they set up ...

Cheat Death

The Rand Easter Show, is a huge consumer exhibition, where thousands of exhibitors from all over the world would come to Johannesburg to trade, it was in fact the largest show of it’s kind in the world outside of the US for a long time through the 60's and 70's. I must have been six or seven years old, when my Dad and I went to the Rand Easter Show, I must have been that age because it was just the two of us, which meant my brother’s were still to young to come along. My farther had been sent by his boss to take a look at some German machinery that was on exhibition, or something like that, because my Dad wasn’t the kind of guy to go without having to be prodded with a stick, of course for me, it was going to be great, because as a kid the only attraction was the Fair Grounds. The Fair Ground was huge, with Rollercoaster, Octopus and all sorts of rides, there were games of skill where you could win stuff and candy vendors, and tucked away in a corner there it was thi...
