Mahatma

It's been a while now that people keep asking me why the "Cape Town Tattoo Social Club"? so I want to use this opportunity to tell you what my thinking was, for years I have worked and owned street shops, and by there very nature they are all the same, some better some worse, but generally they are all the same. In this age of the "wannabe rock star" tattooer a lot of people have forgotten that this is a commercial art, it is in trade for remuneration and thus governed by simple universal customer service principles. People have forgotten and here I don't mean just our industry but a lot of businesses have forgotten that without the customer you don't exist, your lifestyle is directly dependent on them. Mahatma Gandhi wrote - “A customer is the most important visitor on our premises. He is not dependent on us. We are dependent on him. He is not an interruption in our work. He is the purpose of it. He is not an outsider in our business. He is part of it. We are not doing him a favor by serving him. He is doing us a favor by giving us an opportunity to do so.” So with that in mind I decided to build the CTTSC a place where it was a home for us and a home for our clients, a place where we don't have snotty receptionists and bad attitudes by artist. I will never be bright enough in my lifetime to have been so eloquent as Mahatma Gandhi, but I hope I have learned enough in my life to try run my life by his grace.
So I hope that those that visit feel important and part of our shop and allow us to do what we do best, serve them.
