The World Fuck..... sorry I mean CUP

I'm Italian and I'm pissed at Italy going out of the world cup, as Italians we are just build that way when it comes to soccer, but right now I'm pissed! I'm pissed at a Mexican ref that's just an asshole, pissed that Suarez felt it necessary to bite someone, but most of all I'm pissed that a poes like Mario Balotelli gets to play in a world cup, when he has to be without doubt the biggest waste of space on the european continent, I just can't find the right negative superlatives to describe his performance on and off the field. I'm not even going to get into his performance on and off the field. That's the one and only world cup post from me....

Mahatma

It's been a while now that people keep asking me why the "Cape Town Tattoo Social Club"? so I want to use this opportunity to tell you what my thinking was, for years I have worked and owned street shops, and by there very nature they are all the same, some better some worse, but generally they are all the same. In this age of the "wannabe rock star" tattooer a lot of people have forgotten that this is a commercial art, it is in trade for remuneration and thus governed by simple universal customer service principles. People have forgotten and here I don't mean just our industry but a lot of businesses have forgotten that without the customer you don't exist, your lifestyle is directly dependent on them. Mahatma Gandhi wrote - “A customer is the most important visitor on our premises. He is not dependent on us. We are dependent on him. He is not an interruption in our work. He is the purpose of it. He is not an outsider in our business. He is part of it. ...

From a Dark Place.

I was up at 03H30 tis morning, wanting to write something meaningful, something that may have left you with some sort of an impression through your day, all I got was cold and violated by mosquitos. One might say I am content as I am not angrily ranting about something I find offensive, that's what you get from an opinionated people watcher, but I have once again digressed and "content"...I don't understand the meaning of the word and if I did, I may even be content. Whatever it is I just don't feel it, then again I couldn't really say I am malcontent either, though I'm sure you might think so. It always reminds me of these lyrics "It's astounding. Time is fleeting. Madness takes its toll. But listen closely... Not for very much longer. I've got to keep control. I remember doing the time-warp" The clinging onto some sort of perceived life expectancy, and of course I don't mean time but content here, there is that ugly word again, CONT...

Any wonder

I have been thinking about this blog for a while and I just haven't found the right way to express myself without sounding like a whiny ass hole, which I probably am, but as I have your attention that makes you what...? There are a few things that have raised their heads again, and I wanted to just say something about it, obviously without offending anyone, though realistically that isn't going to be possible. Success, why is it so hard for a lot of people to be gracious about others success? If they took the gamble and worked hard, put themselves out there, risked it all and made a success of something, why is it that it can't be supported by their contemporaries? Why is it that these people choose to shun or be ass holes when one would think that the success of one benefits all, it just astounds me. Oh and please I know all that shit that people are ass holes and bla, bla blaaa fuck we have all heard it and at my age I have seen enough of it, still I choose to believe ...

Hyper

I am annoyed and bored, it's been 4 weeks and my lungs are still not cleared up yet, the constant coughing literally wakes me at night hence this blog. My girl is up to some things, and like any good man, I support her in any endeavor, I would do just about anything to see her succeed. I am just amazed at what is transpiring through the process though, it seems that the same politics and bullshit that exists in the tattoo industry is prevalent everywhere else. There seems to be a veiled anger at others success, and a need to be obstructive to ensure that they don't succeed, I just don't get it, then again, I just don't seem to get people at all, I am surrounded by some of the most awesome people and I feel loved and appreciated, hell even respected in some quarters, but there are always those few, the ones that smile in their lips but not their eyes. Then there are the down right assholes, and they know exactly who they are so the less said about them the better. So h...

Outside

I was going through some pics on Facebook that my girl had uploaded to my page, and just looking at the comments, one just struck me. The photo is of me tattooing Ann Jangle’s thigh, the comment “Do you realise they are forever”? My immediate reaction is, no asshole, we leap into permanent body beautification without any forethought, your generation have cornered the market on what is good and what is bad, and we are stupid mindless children, that without you stating the obvious we would never have thought it. I then calmed down, and started wondering why would someone feel the need to voice such a stupid opinion and put his name to it? It’s not like we want your golf and country clubs, your socialite gatherings where blowing wind up each others asses is the order of the day. So what is it? Is it fear of a world waking up to your narrow-minded views and not buying into them? Or is it just that your life has passed by like a speeding train governed by bullshit, convention and socia...

Backyard

I was looking for our next project, as Nicci and I love spending what little free time swinging spanners in our garage building café racers and we are almost done with our second a 1983 BMW r100rs, so I was looking on gumtree and olx and I came across an add for a café racer where the guy says “professionally build, not a backyard garage builder”. And he’s right I am a backyard garage builder, but I do know when a nut is loose and when it’s tight, and seeing as I ride what I build, you would be right in assuming as I’m on the damn thing I check everything twice, hell more than that. To him I have this to say, you may have a workshop, but buddy it doesn’t make you any good at what you do, let alone legitimize the design eye you just don’t have. This is what I am getting at, there is a lot of talk about where you work from, let me explain. I opened new premises many years ago, after having worked from my a dedicated tattoo studio at my home, a tattoo artist, I won’t mention names, com...
